Studying in a Study Group

i dun like to study in a group..cuz m prefer to stdy alone..bt i tried twice..last week for Modern History of Europe and today for The Abbasid Caliphate..bt m kinda like it..it helps me a lot! Here i got some tips for studying in a study group.

Before you decide to form a study group with your classmates, really get to know them so that you´re sure you can work with them. Keeping the group small, no more than 5 people, is recommended. Make sure there´s no single leader.

Form a study group
Get to know your classmates. Before you ask anyone if they want to form a study group with you, you have to make sure that they are motivated enough. You should only form a study group with classmates who understand the subject well enough. That way they´re not going to be in need of help all the time but also be able to help others. You have to form the study group with someone you think you will be able to work with.

Advantages of studying in a group
The advantages of a study group are that the group can help you stay motivated and committed to your work. If you have questions regarding the material gone over in class, they can help you, as it sometimes might be questions you don´t want to ask during the lecture.

When studying with a group of your classmates, you can share ideas with each other and find ways to solve a problem from different perspectives. There is always someone who is likely to know the answer to a problem.

A big advantage with studying in a group is that if you have missed a class due to illness or so, there will be someone to share their notes with you. They will also be able to help you catch up and explain anything you might not understand from just the notes.

Most of all, it is more fun to study in a group than studying alone.
Disadvantages of studying in a group
There are some things to look out for when studying in a study group, which could easily lead to disadvantages.

It´s easy to stray away from the subject and the goals you have set as a group. Remember that you´re not meeting to socialize, you´re there to study and learn.

The members of the study group who don´t do their work like for example preparing for your study session will form a distraction. If they fail to prepare repeatedly, it is better to not have them in the group.

Don´t use the study group to complain about professors or subjects, that is something else you can do during your free time. Negativity will not help you concentrate on the task at hand.

A big disadvantage is to let someone be the leader of the group, as this might prevent the other members of the group from fully participating.

So i think its better to study in a group than just stayin late at night every day try to squeeze ur brain to memorize n understand everything n pretending that you understand it even u r not! Discussion is better! A great way 4 superb understanding!
